Drugs and alcohol testing is usually required under the following circumstances:
- Pre-employment screening – All personnel as part of their PTS medical process must receive a drugs and alcohol test to ensure a negative result is produced before allowing them to begin their Initial track safety course training
- Pre -sponsorship screening – If a company is wishing to act as a primary sponsor for valid sentinel card holders a new drugs and alcohol test may be required if their last test is out with 3 months
- Random and unannounced testing – Random and unannounced testing of workers to ensure safety is maintained. As part of the Network Rail protocol, 5% of staff are to be randomly assigned to testing on an annual basis and this is undertaken without notice
- ‘For Cause’ testing – As part of the Network Rail protocol, unless there are suitable alternative arrangements, all railways suppliers must have a ‘For Cause’ agreement in place. This is undertaken following an accident, serious incident or when there is a high suspicion that an employee at work is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A test can be undertaken within two hours of receipt of the request. Alcohol breathalyser tests and urine analysis are used for this purpose
All our tests are conducted by qualified, experienced professionals.
